This position is associated with a large tertiary referral hospital on the north-eastern coast of Queensland. The hospital is the main referral hub for the region and offers a wide range of medical services to a population of approximately 250,000 people. Hospital services include the latest in mental health, cardiac, obstetric, gynaecological, paediatric, neurosurgical, orthopaedic, cancer, neonatal, allied health, anaesthetic and intensive care services. The hospital also has extensive involvement in trial and research activities and is closely linked with James Cook University's schools of medicine.
This role will see you providing specialist clinical psychiatry services and support to Intellectual and Developmental Disability mental health teams who work across inpatient and community settings. You will be working with experienced multidisciplinary teams comprised of allied health, nursing, general medicine and mental health medical staff. The teams work collaboratively to meet the unique needs of individuals living with intellectual and/or neurodevelopmental disability and associated complex and challenging behaviours, whilst also providing support for families and carers in the ongoing management of individuals with these conditions.
