The Role:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Paediatrician to join a friendly and professional team in a major referral Hospital with state-of-the-art facilities in regional NSW.
The position arises from an incumbent paediatrician’s resignation. There is a pro-rata on call component, in addition to outpatient clinic and inpatient ward rounds. A wide range of medical and non-medical problems are seen in this busy clinic.
You will be providing contemporary comprehensive specialist services for optimal patient outcomes by providing support and training to other clinicians in a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Your aim will be to achieve quality education and safe clinical practice to patients and clients in the local community.
The Paediatric Department is a cohesive and friendly team who strive for excellence, whilst maintaining reasonable work/life balance. The Health Service has a 13 bed Child & Adolescent Unit and an 8-12 bed, level 4 Special Care Nursery.
Middle grade cover is provided 24/7 in 12-hour shifts, by three Paediatric Advanced Trainees seconded from the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network, as well as one local Paediatric Trainee. There are plentiful opportunities for teaching, both within the hospital and throughout the region. The University of Sydney Rural School of Medicine oversees placement of 7 medical students at DHS.

This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.
Packages may consist of relocation benefits, a fortnightly Rural Retention Allowance, contributions to professional development and utility reimbursements, in addition to accommodation assistance.
To recognise ongoing service in this role, once the successful candidate has served a qualifying period, they will become entitled to a reoccurring Annual Retention Bonus valued at $5,000 (as taxable income).

The $91.3 MILLION State of the Art HOSPITAL TRANSFORMATION is COMPLETE, it features six new operating theatres, an inpatient ward, a birthing suite for maternity services and a day-only ward for surgical services.
Each year the 760 strong team at the Hospital looks after 35,000 in Emergency, 26,333 in a hospital bed, performs 9325 surgeries and assists 1233 babies to be born.

- Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
- Fellowship of the applicable College.
- Be willing and able to run a busy outpatient clinic, demonstrating experience in managing complex medical and non-medical problems.
- Current Licence to drive in NSW.
